Japan Diary, Tuesday 20th August 2002

It was a beautiful sunny morning and Sensei was in good spirits while we ate breakfast. The typhoon was well and truly gone now, and the weather would be cooler for a few days he said with relief. Sensei was staying on in Japan for another week to train with his brother at the YMCA and also with Noburo Suzuki Sensei. I was glad to be going home, and missed my wife and kids.

Sensei told me not to worry about the tournament and that it would probably be held in Europe next time – possibly Crystal Palace in London. That will be the first time it will be held outside Japan. There, we will serve up our revenge!

Visitors at the Grandmaster's dojo in Tokyo including yours truly and the Italian teams as well as Shiomitsu Sensei and Iwasaki Sensei.
